Divide and conquer complex business problems with logic trees

Structure your team's thinking, communication, and collaboration

Break down the problem

Any problem of significance is too complex to solve without breaking it down into smaller pieces. Destructure and visualize the problem on a Miro-like canvas.

Perform analyses

Each node in the tree is an independent subtask. Perform some analysis or do some research and write your findings in a rich text editor. Keep track of your sources, attachments, draft, etc.

Synthesize findings

Sub-issues are a piece of the puzzle to answer the issues higher up in the tree. Proceed from the smallest to the largest, and synthesize your findings at increasingly higher levels of abstraction. Reach your final conclusion one manageable step at a time.

Effortless alignment

A logic tree is a map of the problem that drives alignment based on a shared understanding of the problem and the path to solving it.

Delegate tasks to different people on the team, set deadlines and priority, etc.

Benefits

First-principles thinking

Break down the problem to root causes, and develop a solution from there. Rearrange the facts into original conclusions and certain knowledge.

Less dilly-dallying

Creating a map of the problem sets up a focused, efficient workflow.

Organize knowledge

Store analyses and research in one place. Makes it easy to search and share knowledge.

Work like a scientist

Use intuition as your guide to form a starting thesis, then collect and evaluate the evidence. This saves time and triggers a mindset shift from confirmation to investigation.

Crisp communication

Good communication is well-structured and presents the reasoning clearly.
Convert logic trees into crisp reports or presentations manually or with AI.

Human Reasoning + AI

Humans are good at reasoning and judgement. AI helps with clearly defined tasks.

Is Logos publicly available?
We are in beta testing and actively onboarding beta testers. We plan on launching publicly in Q2 2025.
What is the consulting approach to problem solving?
The consulting approach to problem solving is a systematic method for tackling complex issues by breaking them down into smaller parts. It often uses tools like logic trees to map out problems, explore solutions, and test hypotheses. This structured approach ensures thorough analysis and data-driven decision-making, helping avoid common pitfalls like bias and miscommunication.

The consulting approach is essentially scientific, with two key stages: problem diagnosis or solution exploration (issue trees) and testing of solutions (hypothesis trees). This makes it versatile and applicable not only in consulting but in many fields where systematic problem solving and decision-making are needed.
Explain this in simple terms. What is Logos an alternative to?
Today, people often create logic trees on a whiteboard or a digital whiteboard tool like Miro, then write their analyses separately in a word processor or presentation software. This leads to scattered data, confusion, and less rigorous adherence to the consulting problem-solving approach. While logic trees can serve as an excellent map for driving alignment, they lose their effectiveness when left on a whiteboard or disconnected from the project workflow. We believe logic trees should not only structure thinking but also help organize documents, facilitate communication, and track project progress—all in one place.
This seems hard to get into...
Learning the software is easy.. learning to break down problems and reason well can be a bit tricky, but there's hardly any skill that is more worth learning in the modern workforce. We will help with this during onboarding and provide resources to learn about problem solving methodology and how to use this app. In any case, you don't need impeccable problem disaggregation to start seeing results. Just breaking down problems in simple ways and working slightly more systematically will yield results. It's quite low-hanging fruit.
What is first principles thinking?
First principles thinking, or 'reasoning from first principles' is attributed to the Greek philosopher Aristotle. In the Aristotelean sense a problem's constituent parts comprise 'the first causes from which a thing is known' that themselves cannot be deduced from anything else.

In problem solving, first principles thinking involves breaking down a complex problem into its constituent elements, challenging basic assumptions to establish root causality, and on this basis assembling a solution to the problem from scratch. First principles therefore provide the baseline for reasoning in this kind of problem solving.
Does Logos protect our data?
Yes, all potentially sensitive data is encrypted at rest and in transit. We store data with a trusted cloud provider in a manner that complies with SOC 2, HIPAA, and GDPR.
Can Logos integrate with other software?
That is on our roadmap. We will integrate with task management apps like Jira, Asana, etc.
How in AI built into Logos?
AI will be built into Logos in two ways, both of which can dramatically increase productivity.

Firstly, we will have an AI assistant based on the premise that humans are good at high-level reasoning and problem structuring, while AI is really good at clearly defined tasks. The AI assistant (language model, like ChatGPT) can help answer the sub-issues (clearly defined tasks). It will do that well because you can provide it with web sources and attachments related to that issue, and because it has access to the contextual information in the tree (basically, it knows why you're asking and how it relates to the overall project).

Secondly, you will be able to use AI to convert a logic tree into a well-structured presentation (or report). Business presentations should just present your reasoning - one main conclusion, key arguments, and then detailed information. A logic tree has that structure and can be converted into powerful communications. Major time saver!
